Once More, With Feeling/Buffy Sing-A-Long in Chicago!
So in September of last year, I wrote to Brian Andreotti of the Music Box Theatre and told him about the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Sing-A-Long that the IFC Center in New York was doing--an audience sing-a-long to a screening of the musical Buffy episode, "Once More, with Feeling"--and asked him, "Any chance of this taking place at the Music Box??" Brian wrote me back the next day, saying, "I love the idea. I'll check it out." And so this week the Music Box Theatre will be having that Buffy Sing-A-Long as one of its Friday and Saturday midnight movies!
Aaron really enjoyed that episode, so it's kind of fitting that this "Once More, with Feeling" Sing-A-Long will be premiering on Friday night. Friday would have been Aaron's 37th birthday!
So I'll be there at the Music Box Theatre at midnight (and maybe Saturday night, too; I haven't decided). It's definitely something to sing about :>!

[i've got a theory this is good]
One thing I love doing about this show is the fans. They have made it possible and will keep it going for a long time. Hooray!
I really thought--or assumed, I guess--that it was something that was going to try to tour the country anyway, and I thought that the Music Box Theatre would be perfect. I never thought it wouldn't go all over the country. There's Buffy fans *everywhere*!
I was there Friday night and had a ball! As you know, it was sold out. I'm assuming that Saturday was sold out as well--as that was the night a lot of my other Buffy friends were attending. After picking up my ticket in Will Call, I ended up in the entrance line behind a couple, with the guy saying that he'd been mocked on the Buffy online community that he's in because he bought his tickets in advance. The other members had been going, "Dude, Music Box is a 700-seat theater; there's no way it's going to sell out. Just buy 'em when you get there." Ha-HAH! He was talking about how he now looked like a freakin' genius--! I got in the line about ten after 11:00 pm. Up and down the entrance line--which came to stretch all the way down the block!--there were people walking, looking for "extra" tickets. The guy briefly mused on selling his ticket as an investment for any future kid's college fund...!
Hope you have this kind of success all around the country. Grr, argh!!
